Martha Stewart Inspired
Brick Loft Wedding

Beginning our Freddy’s on Main weddings blog so each story of our brick loft weddings in Alberta can be re-lived!

Arriving on the Southern Alberta Wedding Scene

It’s been…over a decade since I last blogged with the early 2000s masses, but here we are, thrilled to know this platform still has a place in the wifi world. Freddy’s first official wedding day celebration was truly one for the internet books!

I will forever remember waking up this wedding day morning in early September 2021 as nervous as if it was my own wedding day (maybe more nervous actually!). But the Atwood family had every single rustic wedding detail so well planned out, they moved in and set up their celebration with complete style and sophistication.

We couldn’t have asked for a better shebang to showcase the potential of this space! With this incredible wedding, it felt like we had officially arrived on the charming rustic southern Alberta wedding scene. Forever grateful for this wedding, and the special memories these photos will forever ignite!

A Martha Stewart Inspired Rustic Wedding

It took incredible amounts of work to get the building to the point where it could even logistically host people, so when Betsy and her family stepped in to create the quintessential Martha Stewart inspired rustic wedding style, it quite literally felt like Christmas morning.

They hung difference-maker soft gauze curtains that filtered the light beautifully in the windows, which they gifted to the space afterwards!

They built the incredible square hanging greenery feature inside the space as it wouldn’t have fit through a door!

They borrowed the tables and tablecloths, rented chairs, and even created the stunning on-trend fresh-cut floral arch themselves!

Not everyone can see an empty space and know what potential it has, and these photos were integral in showing the world our vision! I had a few moments to myself to sneak in and see the decor before the celebration moved in, and it was so surreal. I went home, sent the photos to every family and friend I had, and then went straight back to town to take more! It may have been the first time (about 18 months after purchasing Freddy’s) that I felt like maybe this dream of ours would be okay.

The Perfect Historic brick wedding venue in Southern Alberta

To top off this perfect southern Alberta wedding day, we were reminded recently that Hanna’s great grandmother had often shared fond memories of dancing here, at Freddy’s, when it was originally a dance hall known as the Odeon decades ago! They shared memories on the exact.same.hardwood floors!

THIS is why you simply cannot beat original hardwood and brick! It truly injects a special quality into the feel of your day that cannot be created with any other way.

Posting these photos online and sharing in the excitement with community members that our area now had a ‘new’ historical brick wedding venue in Southern Alberta was just the icing on the cake. Did you attend this wedding? Do you remember seeing these photos for the first time? I’d love to hear your memories of this wonderful day in the comments!

In checking in with the talented mother of the bride, I ended up being lucky enough to receive even more wedding photos to share! One of the best things about owning such a unique wedding venue, is it attracts people into our lives who love it for the exact same reason! I couldn’t agree more with her lovely google review, “You won’t find a building with more history and charm!” What a fun way to kick off our blog and our new website with this trip down memory lane.

The Happy Couple

To end, I thought it would be fun to check in with our couple and find out where are they now? Hannah and Sam Payne have been residing in Rexburg, Idaho where they’ve both completed their bachelor’s degrees and are now working/enjoying using them while Sam applies for dental school! They are excited to find out where their story will move to next! Good luck you guys!
