November and nature brought us the most perfect autumnal colors in wedding form through Sam and Lindy’s wedding reception in Southern Alberta. All hosted at Freddy’s on Main, a historical exposed brick wedding venue in Alberta.
Fall weddings are the epitome of romance, and this cozy industrial style wedding hosted at Freddy’s was no exception. With so many touches of personal decor, accents inspired by nature, and with everything customized and brought to life by family members, every corner set the tone.
The copper pipe frames accentuated the historic space’s industrial wedding venue vibes with its deep autumn oranges to stay very on theme with the deep auburn colour palette. The wedding couple sat in black high-back chairs as well adding to the industrial theme.
We just loved their pops of black and modern graphic design found in their wedding reception decor as well including this welcome sign by @hollylovespaper; that modern wedding style marries just too good with the brick, but then again, what doesn’t this brick backdrop look good behind?
Black and copper antique lanterns were also added to different arrangements throughout the wedding venue as well as vintage suitcases with coppery terracotta tones. Check out this vintage suitcase photo display that doubles as a letter box.
For dinnerware they used copper-toned cutlery and copper accented plates. The metallic details contrasting nicely with the cream table clothes, rust auburn table runners, and cedar greenery lining the long banquet style tables.
Crowning the dinner spread were lit candles placed inside a glass vase cover adding a warm glow to the celebration.
Unique amber, olive, and auburn tinted assorted glassware was set for each guest to drink out of adding little sparks of individuality across the loft wedding hall. This vintage touch through the glassware really elevated the look and kept with the shades of fall wedding color palette as well as complimenting this historical space!
How whimsical are these amber goblets placed at the head table! If Cinderella’s fairy god mother were to turn a pumpkin into a goblet instead of a carriage I suspect this is what it would look like.
Sam and Lindy rented this cream vintage couch set but Freddy's now has one very similar for wedding parties to use included in the price of booking! The cream seating arrangement provided an intimate seating space for the wedding couple as well as wedding guests to chat and chill. Including the youngest wedding guest who snuggled right up to this fur accent pillow to take a picture for his mom!
Using textiles to add warmth and texture are essential to that cosy fall aethetic and provided the perfect medium between fall colors and industrial decor. Adding the auburn throw blanket brought in the color from the beautiful auburn textile piece draped on the wedding arch while the deep green pillows tied in the forest greenery.
We also can’t move on without mentioning the dyed cheesecloth table runners. Lindy’s grandma and mom actually hand dyed strips of cheese cloth to get the perfect shade for these rust gauze table runners used on tables throughout the wedding venue and topped with cedar garlands.
The autumn wedding bouquet made by the local flower shop Petals & Clover incorporated all our favourite hues of fall. The Toffee and Cappuccino Roses (whoever named them really did a great job) were to die for, and the terracotta orange of the magnolia leaves was spot on for a warm autumn harvest aesthetic bouquet.
Industrial sting lights were strung across the whole space creating the perfect ambient lighting throughout the day and evening. The lights come pre-hung on the exposed wood ceiling beams making it one less thing to setup; the rustic exposed beams are another industrial feature that goes so well with every decoration and theme. It provided the perfect structure to add elements to while also making a statement in itself.
Hanging a fun soft lit neon sign adds a fun modern industrial vibe to the brick backdrop. Between two of original to the space historic arch windows was the perfect place to hang the “Better Together” neon sign. It served as a great focal point and fun backdrop for guests to take photos.
We cannot stress enough how much we cherish these brick walls. The presence of the rustic exposed brick is all you need to make wedding decorating a breeze whether you’re going for an industrial aesthetic or any other wedding style. It provides endless opportunities and unique to other wedding venues in the area!
By far our favourite thing to see the brick showcase though is charming wedding couples! There is nothing quite like the glow of a newly wed couple. Those day-of smiles are surreal; the kind one may experience only on a day you’ve possibly thought of for decades.
And with your select family and friends there to share the exact same sentiments as you—priceless. And all captured through wedding photography forever! What a time capsule keepsake these talented photographers create.
My favourite moment when revisiting these photos was by far the off-white pretty sheer lace sleeves of Lindy’s dress being twirled around by her adoring dad. I don’t think either of them are people who prefer to be the centre of attention, but even their photos steal the show, and I can only imagine the sentiments felt during this classic father daughter wedding dance.
The off-white colour went so well with the other autumn hues of this fall wedding.
Here’s another look at the dress in these outdoor photos taken only a couple blocks away from Freddy’s at the temple. It was the perfect autumn wedding day. It was warm for November. The sun was shining and it cast these amazing industrial pattern shadows in this beautiful bridal shot. Incorporating off-white shades adds a warm glow to an industrial setting.
Picking the right refreshments is another thing you can do to elevate your wedding experience for you and your guests.
This cinnamon toast crunch wedding cake was sooo scrumptious and on brand for this fall wedding!
Being just after Halloween, these warm sugar donuts from a local bakery were the perfect fall treat. And don’t forget a warm drink like hot chocolate or hot spiced apple cider. What better way to add a hygge atmosphere to your wedding than through the smell and taste of your favorite seasonal comfort foods.
The best part of this celebration was that we had a personal connection to the family! I knew Lindy as a beautiful teenager and it was just perfect to have her and her mom (also a friend!) choose our space for their reception. What a treat it was to attend the wedding as guests and be amongst familiar faces and to see the wedding venue in action while it was still just getting its start.
The colour of Lindy’s auburn hair has always been something I’ve admired, and it was so striking with the deep pops of maroon that draped the room accenting it perfectly.
What a perfectly decorated space in just the right harvest hues to feature this completely lovable couple!
And as if this wasn’t enough of a personal connection to this lovely scene, about a year after their wedding, I finally felt ready to think about a website for Freddy’s on Main. I had hoped instantly to find a college student looking to possibly build a portfolio, and thought instantly of Lindy. Lucky me, she agreed, and she is the talented web designer behind this entire website! It’s been so great to have someone who was able to work at my pace and allow me to be involved as much or as little as I was able to be on whatever portion we were working on. I truly could not recommend Lindy enough!
They have been residing in Edmonton attending school together and working, and they’ve also managed to fit in some pretty great travels as well! I’d say that’s doing newlywed life just perfectly! Were you guests of this wedding? We’d love to hear from you in the comments if so! Thanks a billion for everything Lindy!!
